Internship Program Overview: Our 2025 Summer Internship Program is a paid 10-12-week internship program, scheduled to begin on June 2, 2025. Interns are expected to work full-time throughout the summer.

Summer interns will join an intern class consisting of undergraduate and graduate students to work on exciting projects in one of EDC's many dynamic departments. Summer Interns will also participate in training programs, networking events, and other professional development opportunities over the course of the program.

Our Summer 2025 Internship Program application deadline is Monday, December 2. All materials must be submitted by EOD that date – incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Department Overview: NYCEDC's Real Estate Transaction Services (RETS) division executes and advises on real estate development and public-private partnerships, transforming underutilized properties into projects that support the creation of quality jobs and promote livable and affordable communities throughout New York City. RETS is the City's primary department for financial analysis, structuring, and the execution of real estate and economic development transactions. RETS promotes economic development and neighborhood revitalization by leveraging City-owned real estate and partnerships with the private sector. Whether we're bringing exciting cultural amenities to neighborhoods, investing in growth spaces for new businesses, or creating homes for residents, RETS is furthering NYCEDC's mission of creating a sustainable and resilient future, with shared prosperity and opportunity for all New Yorkers.

Intern Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models of major New York City development projects
  • Support teams administering multiple real estate and/or economic development transactions
  • Draft materials to support negotiations of contracts of sale, leases, and funding agreements
  • Prepare site development and project feasibility analyses
  • Support project teams in managing requests for proposals
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other divisions in NYCEDC, such as Legal, Planning, and Government & Community Relations
  • Manage professional communications with real estate developers, attorneys, consultants, and staff from City agencies

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Preferred field(s) of study: real estate, finance, urban planning, business, government
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program; recent graduates are also encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for the mission of NYCEDC
  • Demonstrated written, verbal, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in using database and presentation tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM and complete the entirety of the 10-week program

Salary Target: $19.00/hour (undergraduate-level students); $24.00/hour (graduate-level students)
