Job Description

Our client, a private investment and asset management group, is seeking a Staff Accountant for a new role due to continued growth. The Company is comprised of real estate and investment professionals with extensive experience in construction, leasing, property acquisitions, underwriting, valuation, property management, servicing, and institutional investment banking.

The Staff Accountant will work within the core accounting function. The role will assist with cash management, payables processes and month-end closing across the investment portfolio. The successful candidate will work in this team to support the Fund Controllers in the preparation of their monthly financial accounts by running core financial processes and preparing key reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support and assistance to the Assistant Fund Controller, Accounts Payable, and Treasury functions.
• Assist with the central accounts payable email inbox, invoice imports, and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Assist with the construction loan draw process.
• Assist with banking activity to record investor-related and other transactions in the appropriate accounting period.
• Complete the bank reconciliations in the accounting software.
• Assist with recording financial journal entries.
• Prepare monthly support schedules and other reconciliations across designated accounts.
• Assist with uploading month-end financial statements approved by Fund Controllers.
• Assist with the year-end audit and tax requests.
• Other requests and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to the organization's growth
• Strong knowledge of accounting theory
• Experience in real estate accounting a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
• Preferred Yardi experience
• Enhanced verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
