Job Title: Surgical Technologist

Job Summary: Assists the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures. Ensures the operating suite is adequately prepared for procedures and monitors the PAR level of all surgical instruments and supplies. Responsible for cleaning and sterilizing all surgical instruments. Handles medications under the supervision of the surgeon or nurse. Participates in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.

Requirements

Aptitudes:

• Ability to handle multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, and difficult situations.
  
• Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective and empathetic patient care and customer relations.
  

Responsibilities:

• Assist the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures.
  
• Ensure the operating suite is adequately prepared for procedures.
  
• Monitor PAR levels of all surgical instruments and supplies.
  
• Clean and sterilize all surgical instruments.
  
• Handle medications under the supervision of the surgeon or nurse.
  
• Participate in departmental staff meetings and performance improvement activities.
  

Knowledge/Experience:

• Minimum of three years of experience as an operating room technician or certification in OR technology.
  
• Ability to function independently as an operating room scrub in all surgical specialties.
  

Education:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
  
• Graduation from a surgical tech two-year program preferred.
  

License/Certification:

• Current BCLS Certification is required.
