Structural Engineer – Contract, long-term

Bridgman, MI

Your Day-to-Day:

• Prepare and review various types of structural calculations and analyses to Client and structural standards and codes. This includes the ability to design and qualify anchor bolts and support systems, concrete and structures for various loading combinations and equipment support structures, etc. These analyses will provide the structural input for various plant projects for installation into the plant.
• Prepare and review of various types of piping analyses to Client and structural standards and codes. This includes the ability to design and qualify piping systems various pressure, temperature combinations for various systems and applications. These analyses will provide the piping input for various plant projects for installation into the plant.
• Engineering oversite and management of various projects
• Work with the project manager, construction, planning, engineering, and other disciplines in support of the project to ensure the engineering is completed with quality and on schedule.
• Initiation of engineering change paperwork and other documentations required for the implementation of plant modification.

Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:

• Bachelor of Science from a 4-year university with course work in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and/or heat transfer
• The expectation is to become qualified in the Client’s Position Specific Guides (PSG) and Engineering Support Personnel (ESP) Training.
• 4 years of experience relating to the design of fluid thermal systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities
• 2 years of experience relating to the design or operation of commercial Nuclear Power Plants
• Experience evaluating and/or specifying pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and turbines.
• Working knowledge of ASME and ANSI codes/standards.
• Preparation of specifications, calculations, and drawings for plant systems.
• Good written and oral communication skills. Must have experience working in a Team environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with the Nuclear Standard Design Process, and experience preparing engineering drawings including but not limited to vendor drawings, P&IDs, logic diagrams, instrument hookups, etc. for plant modification packages.
• Field experience at an operating nuclear plant
• Experience with AOV and/or MOV calculations is a plus
