GENERAL SUMMARY

The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.

St. Matthew's House is a faith based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

• Ensure daily transactions are recorded timely and accurately
• Prepare journal entries
• Complete reconciliations of general ledger accounts
• Account analysis and reporting
• Perform month end and year end close tasks
• Assists in monthly reconciliation of designated funds and projects
• Prepare and file sales and property tax returns
• Assist with annual audit schedules
• Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines
• Support management in completing special projects as assigned

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in Accounting or Business related major, or related experience
• 5+ years in accounting field, Non-profit experience preferred
• Ability to read computer screens
• Proficiency in Accounting systems, Excel, and Word
• Advanced mathematical, Excel and system reporting skills highly desired
• Must be able to handle sensitive matters in a diplomatic and collaborative manner
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills are necessary
