Job Title: Retail Manager

Location: 7920 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, KS 66204

Type: Full-time, Flexible schedule required, 40 hours per week

We host over 500 cooking classes each year for thousands of people and private events, interactive cooking parties, and culinary team-building sessions for local companies, organizations, families, and friend groups. Our retail store sells high-quality cooking implements, cookbooks, food items, gifts, and more.

Job Description

The Retail Manager will oversee all retail operations for our retail store within our cooking school. This hands-on management role requires working weekends and holidays during peak operations. Responsibilities include hiring and training staff, monitoring inventory, placing and receiving orders, maximizing sales, ensuring excellent customer service, and reporting on financial performance. The retail manager will work closely with The Culinary Center management and other teams to align retail goals and enhance the guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Work a regular set of shifts on the retail floor working with customers and guests
• Manage all retail staff - hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating
• Oversee inventory management - monitor stock levels, place orders, receive shipments
• Maximize retail sales through merchandising, promotions, etc.
• Ensure high standards for store presentation, visual merchandising, and cleanliness
• Maintain excellent customer service standards
• Collaborate with Culinary Center team to align retail strategy with classes and events, including planning/execution of Center-wide events with strong retail tie-in
• Analyze sales data, track financial metrics, control expenses
• Report on retail performance - sales, budget, inventory, staffing, etc.

Qualifications

• 5+ years retail management experience required; specialty retail preferred
• Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail
• Strong leadership, training and team management abilities
• Excellent organizational and inventory management skills
• Experience with POS systems, ordering/receiving, and retail metrics
• Creative merchandising and visual presentation skills
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
