Job Title: Restaurant Culinary Consultant (Project-Based)

Location: Remote / On-Site as Needed

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Culinary Consultant to work on a project basis to help optimize our menu and enhance our culinary offerings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fast-casual dining, healthy cuisine, menu creation, cost-effective menu engineering . They will be responsible for menu costing, new item creation, recipe development, ingredient sourcing, and optimizing existing dishes to ensure efficiency, consistency, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

New Menu Item Development:

• Conceptualize and develop new, innovative, and trend-driven menu items aligned with the restaurant’s brand and customer preferences, with a focus on using existing ingredients and existing food preparation methods and procedures. 

• Test and refine recipes to ensure scalability, consistency, and efficiency in a fast-casual kitchen environment.

• Provide training and documentation for staff on new menu items, including preparation methods and plating standards.

Recipe & Ingredient Optimization:

• Evaluate and improve existing recipes for flavor, quality, and operational efficiency .

• Suggest ingredient substitutions or sourcing improvements to reduce costs and improve consistency .

• Ensure all recipes align with healthy cuisine standards and dietary preferences, including plant-based, gluten-free, and allergen-conscious options.

Ingredient Sourcing & Vendor Recommendations:

• Identify high-quality, cost-effective suppliers for fresh ingredients, specialty items, and alternative products.

• Recommend sustainable and locally sourced ingredients where applicable.

• Negotiate pricing and establish relationships with vendors to improve margins and maintain quality.

Qualifications & Experience:

5+ years of experience in culinary consulting, restaurant operations, or menu development .

• Strong background in fast-casual, healthy cuisine, and cost-conscious menu engineering .

• Expertise in menu costing, recipe standardization, and ingredient sourcing .

• Knowledge of food trends, customer preferences, and dietary needs .

• Excellent communication and project management skills.

• Ability to work independently on a project basis and deliver results within deadlines.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working with plant-based, organic, and health-focused cuisine .

• Familiarity with food safety regulations and kitchen efficiency best practices .

• Strong vendor relationships in the restaurant and food supply industry .
