This job is located on Andros Island in the Bahamas.

Relocation assistance is available, and no cost housing is provided for single occupancy.

Located on the white sandy beaches of the Andros Island a Commonwealth of the Bahamas. The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities. In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.

Responsible for installation, repair, assembly and maintenance of water, sewage, drainage, air, gas, and vacuum systems and related equipment including boilers and facilities on the AUTEC project.

Responsibilities:

• Directs employees on the day-to-day operations in the plumbing shop.
• Supervises up to 4 US and Host nation skilled trades workers.
• Responsible for timesheet compliance of all employee's in the plumbing shop.
• Accountable for tools, equipment and materials assigned to plumbing shop.
• Required to carry pager/shared with shop employees.
• Some on call/overtime may be required.
• Monitors and troubleshoots major plumbing breakdowns by diagnosing and repairing or replacing systems.
• Determines the routing of pipe and location of such plumbing fixtures, accessories, and equipment such as vent pipes, meters, gauges, hangers, brackets, and water, sewage, gas, and air connections.
• Provides technical guidance and direction to lower-level staff to ensure accuracy or work and adherence to guidelines/plumbing code.
• Schedules preventative maintenance and corrective repairs of plumbing systems to meet contract requirements.
• Responsible for operation and maintenance of the installation back flow device operation and certification
• Responsible for the operation and maintenance High Pressure Vessel Program (stationary Air Compressors) including the 3 boilers to NAVFAC standards.
• Provide security escort for visiting vendors as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certified master plumber preferred.
• Ten (10) years of plumbing experience.
• Must obtain Certification for the US Navy Overseas drinking water systems program - Level 1 Distribution within one year of hire
• Experience working with backflow prevention inspection, testing, and maintenance certification.
• Ability to use wrenches, pipe-cutters, threading tools, metal saws, and pressure equipment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Occasionally lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds of supplies of varying types.
• Must be able to work in manholes and ditches and confined spaces
• Valid Driver's License and passport will be required.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required.
• Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities.
