If so, this Linguist position could be your ideal opportunity. In this critical role, you'll leverage your linguistic expertise to: Language Analysis: Research and analyze the nuances of assigned languages, including regional dialects, phonetic patterns, and cultural context. Transcription and Translation: Accurately transcribe audio and video materials from the target language into clear and concise English translations. Cultural Understanding: Apply your knowledge of relevant cultural, political, and historical aspects to enhance communication and information extraction. Research and Analysis: Utilize open-source research techniques to gather and analyze information in the target language. To be successful, you'll possess: Linguistic Background: A Bachelor's degree in Linguistics or a minimum of one to three years of experience in translating relevant texts. Bilingual Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in English and a target language spoken within the INDOPACOM region (highly preferred). Cultural Awareness: A strong understanding of the cultural, political, and historical context surrounding the target language. Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and the target language. Research Skills: Experience conducting effective open-source research using online resources. Security Clearance: Possession of a security clearance is a must.
