Duties

As a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/SYSADMIN) (TITLE 5),GS-2210-12, you will provide support to Automated Logistics Information Systems and Programs to all State/Territories activities/organizations and perform a wide range of specialized methods/techniques for planning; analyzing and identifying problems in order to develop and implement resolutions to administrative and systemic programs throughout the organization.


Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
  • Plans, direct, coordinate, and interpret technical aspects of work functions/actions required of automated logistics information system operations encompassing a wide range of IT Management decisions.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance with existing strategic and tactical architecture and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support and remote administration assistance for all subordinate units and Sustainment Automation Support Management Offices (SASMO) within the State/Territory.
  • Provide input to and develops State/Territory level policy for automated logistics information system operations and ensures that new policies are consistent with the objectives of the Command.
  • Ensure smooth production operation of automated logistics information systems by performing various tasks that require privileged level access to servers, workstations, and networks. Isolates system failures, determines cause, and initiates corrective actions that require subject matter expertise in the various areas of the systems operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of systems administration management software, startup and shutdown procedures, disk management, backup and restore procedures, access control and security, installation and maintenance of system and application software, hardware and software configurations, and database software.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Evaluate, determine, and initiate corrective action to recover or restore data and return the database(s) to operational status.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Advise and provide counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
  • Select or recommend selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and diversity objectives.
  • Explain performance expectations to employees and provide regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses.

  • Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six-month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. Note: The caveat is that the States, Territories, and the District of Columbia cannot drug test until a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. This designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : MUST possess IT-related experience demonstrating ability to be conscientious about attending to detail while performing work; works well with clients and customers, ability to express information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information; make clear and convincing oral presentations; ability to identify problems and evaluate solutions.



One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position.



SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : GS-12 Level MUST possess at least 1-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 Level, which includes experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment; experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.



SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE : MUST possess experience in managing the function of the work to be performed; experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
