HEAT TREAT OPERATOR - ENTRY LEVEL OPENING

PRODUCTION - MANUFACTURING - MACHINE OPERATOR - UTILITY WORKER

HOURS -

  • 2nd Shift, 5 pm - 5 am
  • Work 4 days on and then switch to 4 days off
  • We offer a 10% shift premium

Scot Forge is an employee-owned company that manufactures custom open die and rolled ring forgings used in demanding applications all over the world. We have locations in Spring Grove, IL, Clinton, WI and Franklin Park, IL.

Qualifications -

  • High School Diploma or GED Required or equivalent
  • Forklift experience (preferred)
  • Manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Basic shop math - calculation of quench times based on part sizes, calculate cycle times, etc.
  • Ability to work in temperatures up to 100 degrees in Summer and below 30 degree in Winter
  • Ability to perform frequent lifting of 50 lbs. Additional lifting up to 65 lbs.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities-

  • Program and monitor furnace cycles via temperature controllers, adjustments and record readings.
  • Properly calibrate all equipment.
  • Prepare heat treat furnace, ensure orientation of load and remove shims.
  • Load and unload material into quench tank according to both established and unestablished guidelines and practices.
  • Load and unload materials into furnaces according to established load sheet instructions keeping in mind product support and furnace uniformity.
  • Evaluate and straighten tempered parts as required in accordance with established practices.
  • Perform Brinell testing operations and record results in accordance with established specifications.
  • Read and understand shop order routing and be able to identify the next operation and prepare and move the forgings to the appropriate department location for the next operation.
  • Read and understand basic blueprints (weights, product sizes locations, hardness, test location)
  • Work in cooperation with all fellow employee owners to sustain a strong team atmosphere.
  • Required to pass written and practical Heat Treat Examination within 12 months
  • Required to become a certified hardness tester (use, calibrate and test proper equipment)
