Apply via Dice today! Work Location: Pleasanton, CA Job Description: Managing and maintaining MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB & Oracle SQL databases. Create, configure and optimize databases of different types in the cloud vs on-premise. Making the best and efficient use of each database. Ability to work in a high visibility and critical environment. Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up so that vital information can be retrieved in case of accidental loss or security breach. Strategically plan and implement changes in database operations and ensuring data is readily available to end-users. Strategically plan and implement zero-down time changes for Tier-1 databases. Migrate databases from across cloud providers, across database types (i.e.: Oracle SQL to PostgreSQL), and cloud PaaS solutions. Provide best practices to development teams when writing efficient and high performing queries, indexes, stored procedures. Develop, optimize and refactor complex Stored Procedures. Provide production support for databases able to be on-call as needed. Special Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently Strong attention to detail Experience with database development and management software Proficient in MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB & Oracle SQL Experience with working with Cloud DB PaaS solutions in Microsoft Azure & Oracle Cloud. Experience with database migrations from IaaS to PaaS. Experience with database optimizations. Experience with large database sets and partition strategies.
