American Leadership Academy is currently accepting applications for part-time custodians who will keep school buildings and premises in clean, orderly and safe condition. The hours for the day shift custodian will be from 7:30am-3:30pm. Candidates must possess, or be willing to obtain, an IVP fingerprint clearance card from the Department of Public Safety. Previous experience working as a custodian or industrial housekeeper is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean windows and mirrors.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines and equipment.
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestations.
• Set up, arrange and remove tables, chairs, ladders and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours.
• Assist with the school’s energy conservation practices by turning off unneeded lights and equipment; identifying unoccupied areas of the building where heating and cooling can be shut down; and reporting leaking faucets, pipes and sprinklers.
• Other related duties as assigned.
