Description

Join our team and make a difference in your community as a Court Interpreter for the Clerk of Courts.

This position provides Spanish-English interpreter services in matters pending before the court as well as producing relevant translation of documents. Assists in the coordinating and scheduling of contracted interpreters for court hearings as needed.

**To be eligible for hire, you must be certified as a Wisconsin Court Interpreter. Below is the link that details this certification.

Essential Duties


  • Performs verbal and sight interpretation in simultaneous and consecutive modes for court proceedings, hearings, interviews, and other court related events.
  • Sight-translates office forms, documents, and other legal documents and correspondence as needed.
  • Reviews case file records in preparation of upcoming assignments.
  • Assists with the scheduling of on-call interpreters and calendaring of all requests in the Court Interpreter's office.
  • Maintains records of interpretation and translation activities.
  • Collects, interprets, and analyzes data for the computation and submission of statistical reports and records.
  • Performs verbal and sight interpretation in simultaneous and consecutive modes for other county departments upon ample notice.
  • Acts as Interpretation Services Coordinator.
  • Uses standard office equipment, including a computer and various database and other software programs, in the course of the work.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Required Working Hours

Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. Please note these hours are subject to change and additional hours may be needed or required. Compensation for additional hours beyond normal working hours are subject to applicable state and federal regulations.

Minimum Training and Education

Required:

High School diploma

Certified status with the Wisconsin Director of State Courts Office

Maintain interpreter certification with the Wisconsin Director of State Courts Office

Licenses/Certifications:

Valid Wisconsin State Motor Vehicle Operator's License

Preferred:

Graduation from an accredited college or university.

One year of court/legal related experience or any equivalent combination of education or experience

Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
