Job Details Mission: Assists in the management of the daily operations in the liquor department. Assumes the role of team leader when the department manager is off and performs managerial tasks accordingly. Promotes and executes consistent and compliant operating conditions to increase customer confidence and loyalty. Provides fresh, appealing products and courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans as outlined in department planners, toolkits or event packs while following merchandising standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends. Monitors and controls supply expenses, manages cash control, sales and cash items and records for the liquor store. Supervises, trains, and develops team members and provides coaching as needed. This is a working management position balancing physical labor, delegation, team building, leadership, planning, and administrative work. Essential Responsibilities Service – Creates an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued, increases customer confidence and loyalty. Ensures the department is merchandised per plan and maintained in-stock. Delivers daily conditions that meet company standards for freshness, quality and value. Trains department associates on inventory/stocking and computer-assisted ordering. Offers assistance in finding or suggesting product selection. Time : 60% Leadership – Promotes trust and teamwork, communicates information clearly, and helps establish goals for merchandising, sales and profits. Supports scheduling to ensure tasks are completed with strong customer service, especially during peak hours. Adheres to all laws and company guidelines. Time : 20% Financial – Handles daily/weekly administrative tasks (communications, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders, receiving products). Monitors inventory/stocking conditions and investigates discrepancies. Inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action. Assists in inventory planning and organization. Ensures proper temperature control and maintains temperature logs per policy. Time : 10% Compliance/Safety – Maintains safety, food handling, sanitation, and productivity standards. Complies with regulatory requirements (USDA, COOL, DOA). Executes recalls and withdrawals timely and keeps items secured. Encourages safety programs and reports unsafe conditions or incidents. Ensures wage/hour compliance and a safety culture. Ensures hazard assessments are posted and PPE is used when required. Reports safety risks, incidents, theft or fraud, and illegal activity. Works to keep equipment safe and maintained. Time : 10% Qualifications Education – High School / GED Languages – English; Spanish (preferred) Experience – Supervisory experience 0-3 years minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Must be 21 years of age Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain it Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check Strong customer service skills Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills Knowledge of basic math Ability to handle stressful situations Proficient with computer applications used in operating the department Environmental Factors Retail - General. Physical Demands: standing/walking, manual dexterity, vision, hearing, repetitive movements. Lifting up to stated weights; occasional climbing; variable indoor/outdoor conditions including cold and wet environments. Safety risk factors include working on slippery floors, hazardous equipment, and exposure to cleaners and toxins. PPE provided as required. Travel: None. Shift: Varied shifts, including 3-4 evening shifts per week.
