Overview Associate Degree Apprenticeship Program - Underwriting Services - Chicago, IL (Summer 2026) Zurich North America’s Apprentice Program offers a two‑year path combining targeted coursework with paid work rotations in Chicago. The program launches at the beginning of Summer 2026 as early as June 16 through July 20. About the program: Our General Insurance Apprentice Program allows participants to gain their first-time higher education while gaining experience to launch a career in commercial insurance. In Chicago, apprentices will support the Large Property Underwriting Account Service Associate Team. Responsibilities Servicing accounts through the end-to-end process Accessing and evaluating underwriting processes while implementing best practices Following instructions from underwriters in policy rating and pricing Reviewing applications of mandatory policy forms for accounts Resolving inquiries from brokers, underwriters, and internal customers Earn & Learn The two-year program combines coursework at Harper Community College with work rotations at Zurich North America’s Downtown Chicago office. The ideal candidate is seeking a first-time associate degree with minimal college credits completed. Apprentices who complete the program will: Work in a paid, benefit-eligible full-time position at Zurich Work 3 days a week, study 2 days a week, with pay for all 40 hours/week E arn a tuition-free Associate in Applied Science degree in Business Administration (Insurance concentration) or Business Marketing (Insurance concentration) Receive a Department of Labor Certificate of Apprenticeship Acquire credentials and skills for today’s marketplace Qualifications Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent Professional work experience not required Must be enrolled and considered college-ready by Harper or Harold Washington Community College Admissions (separate application process that can run concurrently with Zurich’s) Preferred Qualifications: 1+ years of work experience or leadership in student activities or voluntary service Interest in pursuing a career in the insurance industry Ability to balance multiple priorities between work and school deadlines Strong customer service skills Collaboration and problem-solving skills Effective communication, self-discipline, attention to detail Ability to collaborate in a team environment Intermediate Excel skills Comfort navigating online learning and interactions Compensation & Employment Details Compensation varies by office location, role, skills, and experience.
