This position is responsible for safely operating a water tanker truck to transport water for use throughout job sites, drainage, and structures to control dust by spraying water on roadways or to achieve compaction of construction materials. Requires a CDL with Tank Endorsement is a must. This Project offers On the Job Training Program (OJT). Essential Job Accountabilities include filling truck with water from approved supply sources, driving truck equipped with sprinkling attachment to settle dust on roadways and streets to saturate flexible base for compaction, distinguishing when roads are over-watered creating unsafe operating conditions, safely operating truck in often unstable ground conditions, performing pre- and post-inspections on truck pursuant to DOT regulations, company guidelines and manufacturer’s specifications, maintaining the equipment according to company and manufacturer standards, assisting crews with other tasks when not operating water truck, and performing other duties as required. Work experience required includes Class A or B CDL driver’s license with tanker endorsement. Preferred experience includes driving a water truck on roadway construction sites and operating heavy equipment. Knowledge of DOT regulations, ability to navigate uneven and rough terrain safely, recognize hazardous conditions, work various shifts including extended hours, work in all weather conditions, work in safety sensitive construction settings, collaborate in a fast-paced environment, and physical ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined spaces are required. Physical demands include dexterity, stamina, hand-eye coordination, ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more, and ability to stand, sit, walk over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders, and potentially lie down. Additional requirements include compliance with corporate safety initiatives and Granite’s Code of Conduct.
