American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical ICU position requiring a NE or compact RN license, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications, and at least 2 years of ICU experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in a 34-bed Medical-Surgical ICU within an acute care, Level 1 Trauma hospital
  • Patient population includes adults and pediatrics over 15 years old with complex diagnoses such as neuro surgery, respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/OD, GI bleeds, and cancer surgeries
  • Nurse to patient ratios: ICU 1:1-2, PCU 1:4-5, MS 1:5-6
  • Responsibilities include titration of vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmic drips
  • Required to work 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend, and rotating holidays as needed
  • RNs will float to all inpatient units except Maternity/NICU
  • Utilizes Epic EMR and Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry; RNs are required to read and interpret their own strips
  • Two shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Fast-paced, high-volume unit serving as the primary tertiary care center for the system
  • Collaborative team environment with attendings, fellows, residents, and strong support from nurse aides and techs
  • Orientation includes pass/fail exam on skills learned; must achieve 90% to continue contract
  • Must be personable, proactive, possess strong critical thinking skills, and be willing to help others
  • RTO (time off) requests must be provided upfront (7 days or less for 13-week contract); additional RTO will not be approved
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility for eligibility

  • Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum of 2 years ICU nursing experience
  • Ability to titrate critical care drips and interpret telemetry independently
  • Driver’s license required for verification of 50-mile radius from the facility
  • Candidates must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
  • Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in patient care areas
  • References required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
