Travel Consultant

A love of travel attracts many people to this field, but to succeed, a Travel Consultant must be passionate about travel and the endless opportunities it offers to bridge history, cultures, and cuisine. Successful Travel Consultants should have a strong sales drive, organizational skills with an eye for detail, the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, proficiency in navigating computers and various programs, and good written and oral communication skills. A continuous learning mindset is also essential.

Responsibilities include:

1. Selling international and domestic travel packages, including cruises, land packages, travel itineraries, air, car rentals, and hotels.
2. Sharing knowledge and expertise gained from personal experiences and/or educational study trips.
3. Developing long-standing relationships with members to build referral and repeat business.
4. Making tailored recommendations to ensure the trip exceeds expectations and aligns with members' preferences.
5. Cross-selling relevant products such as AAA Member Rewards Credit Card and identity theft referrals to enhance the trip experience.

This role offers a pathway to future leadership opportunities. Progression will be evaluated based on sales, customer service, administrative skills, operations, up-selling, cross-selling, and goal achievement. Successful evaluations may lead to management roles.

Minimum and preferred skills:

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
• At least 2 years of successful retail sales or banking experience or experience in a leisure travel agency.

Candidate qualities:

• Passion for travel.
• Availability to work Saturdays and some evenings.
• Willingness to complete training programs, which may include travel.
• Driven by sales and exceeding goals.
• Computer savvy, able to navigate multiple systems and browsers, proficient in Microsoft Office, and typing at least 30 WPM.
• Organized and comfortable with paperwork.

Starting hourly rate is $23.50. Post-training, successful consultants can earn between $67,300 and $82,300 annually, with uncapped incentives.
