Test Engineer
Location: Longmont, CO
Salary: $95,000 – $115,000 annually

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Test Engineer to support product sustaining engineering efforts in a high-tech manufacturing environment. This role focuses on automated test equipment (ATE), functional test stations, and manufacturing process support. The position collaborates with customer focus teams (CFTs), works directly with customers to establish test requirements, and ensures manufacturing production goals are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all ESD and Board Handling requirements.

  • Apply Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) handling procedures based on MSL levels.

  • Install, maintain, and improve functional test stations and programs for customer and company equipment.

  • Act as an extension of CFTs to support manufacturing processes and customer requirements.

  • Expand and install custom functional and ATE testers at board and system levels.

  • Program and maintain flying probe systems.

  • Develop and maintain tester documentation and procedures.

  • Update existing programs, ICT and functional test fixtures as needed.

  • Support production staff in achieving monthly production goals.

  • Conduct failure analysis, including replicating failures, troubleshooting root causes, validating failing populations, and recommending solutions.

  • Perform sustaining engineering tasks, including tester capacity analysis, manufacturing failure data analysis, and improvement plan presentations.

  • Support and follow ISO and Quality Management System standards.

  • Assist in achieving corporate and site 6S objectives.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient with electronic manufacturing systems and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, signal generators/analyzers).

  • Ability to read schematics, debug analog, digital, and RF circuits, and support manufacturing teams.

  • Exposure to programming languages/platforms (C++, C#, Java, Perl, AutoIt, Python, LabVIEW, Visual Basic).

  • Understanding of computer architecture, Windows OS, networking, and basic driver/component installation. Linux familiarity is a plus.

  • Knowledge of test equipment communication protocols (GPIB, RS-232, USB, I2C, SPI).

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to change, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.

  • 4+ years of experience in a similar environment.

  • Experience with manufacturing test tools such as Flying Probe, ICT, Boundary Scan, and functional test methodologies at board and system levels.

  • Knowledge of SMT and Box-Build manufacturing processes.

  • Familiarity with PCB layout, CAD, and PCB viewer tools.

  • Proficiency with common electronic manufacturing equipment (oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, PLD programmers).
