As a Permanent Project Staff Accountant - Construction, you will be an integral part of our team, working directly with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure efficient and accurate financial management of our construction projects. This role is not for the faint-hearted, but for a dynamic and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. You will be responsible for handling all financial aspects of our construction projects, from initial budgeting to final project closeout. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, including fixed-assets, cash /check deposits cash recieved, and invoices. Experience with pay apps, AIA, AIA billing, and percentage of completion are nice skills to have but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Managing all aspects of project accounting, including job cost tracking, pay applications, AIA billing, and percentage of completion accounting.
- Collaborating with project managers to develop project budgets, monitor project costs, and provide financial forecasts.
- Processing ACH payments, cash deposits, and check deposits in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintaining accurate financial records, including invoices, fixed assets, and project-related expenses.
- Utilizing accounting software such as Timberline and Vista Viewpoint to manage project finances and produce accurate financial reports.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and industry standards.
- Assisting with financial audits and providing necessary documentation and information to auditors.
- Identifying and resolving any discrepancies or issues in project financials.
- Providing regular financial updates to project managers and senior management, highlighting any potential financial risks or opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting, with a focus on project accounting.
- Proficient in construction accounting software, including Timberline and Vista Viewpoint.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including pay apps, AIA, AIA billing, and percentage of completion.
- Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with project managers, contractors, and clients.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial discrepancies and issues.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and industry standards related to construction accounting.
