Specialty Coffee Barista Trainer

Serving our Palms, Del Rey, Beverly Center, and Fairfax locations.

Travel between locations is required.

Position Overview:

The Barista Trainer is not just a teacher, but a leader—someone who sets the tone for excellence, cultivates a culture of accountability, and helps shape the future of our coffee program. You’ll be responsible for developing baristas into confident, consistent, and hospitality-driven professionals, while also working closely with shop leads and managers to uphold and evolve our standards.

Leadership Responsibilities:

• Serve as a leader and mentor to all baristas, setting clear expectations and helping team members grow into high-performing professionals.
• Lead by example on the floor when needed, modeling hospitality, technical precision, and calm under pressure.
• Empower shop leads and management with training tools and coaching strategies to reinforce standards daily.
• Foster a culture of feedback, development, and support across all teams.
• Partner with store leadership to identify opportunities for improvement, alignment, and long-term growth.

Training & Quality Responsibilities:

• Design and execute comprehensive training programs for new and existing baristas—including espresso, milk texture, latte art, brewing methods, and guest interaction.
• Conduct regular skills assessments and follow-up coaching to ensure ongoing improvement and consistency.
• Create and maintain clear training documentation and visual aids.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and integrate best practices into the program.
• Champion quality control across all locations, ensuring that every drink meets Coffee Commissary standards.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience as a Barista Trainer or senior-level barista with leadership experience in a high-quality coffee environment.
• Strong technical proficiency in all brewing methods, espresso preparation, and milk texturing.
• Natural leadership and mentoring abilities with a focus on communication, collaboration, and accountability.
• Highly organized, self-directed, and motivated to take ownership of the training function.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-store environment and work effectively with a wide range of personalities and skill levels.
• A passion for specialty coffee, guest service, and team development.
