The Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township is a nonprofit organization that provides a safe, supportive environment for young people, offering after-school programs and activities focused on academic success, character development, and healthy lifestyles. AmeriCorps, a network of national service programs, often supports organizations like the Boys & Girls Clubs by enlisting volunteers who commit their time and expertise to address critical community needs. Through their service, AmeriCorps members contribute to the positive development and empowerment of youth across the country

Position Title: Social/Emotional Skills Specialist

Program Name: AmeriCorps Youth Education & Enrichment at Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township

Term of Service: Complete 1200 hours as a Half Time Member between September 1st, 2025 - August 31st, 2026

Job Summary: Responsible for planning, delivering, and overseeing fun, meaningful, and compelling Social Emotional Learning program experiences for primary and secondary members.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with SEL Team to facilitate Club SEL programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and create a club environment which facilitates growth and achievement in children.

Supervising and encouraging youth members to participate in a SEL Skill Based Programming and activities, and receive instruction and constructive feedback to further develop skills.

Providing guidance and mentorship to members to assist them in making appropriate choices that promotes self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.

Documenting reporting data, including attendance and program participation on a daily basis.

Maintaining a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are maintained.

Engage in training around the topics of Trauma Informed Care, Positive Language, Non Violent Crisis Intervention, and more.

Deliver, compile, and evaluate assessment surveys from members to determine program efficacy.

Qualifications:

Be at least 18 years of age at the commencement of service

High school diploma or equivalent required

Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.

Satisfy the National Service Criminal History Check eligibility criteria pursuant to 45 CFR 2540.202.

Passion for working with youth

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings

Time Requirement:

Complete 900 hours during the time of service

Participate in mandatory days of service

Complete hours during direct service hours at designated site (i.e. after-school hours, no school days (if applicable), special events, family engagement activities, etc.)

Benefits:

Living allowance provided on a bi-weekly basis, $20,400 yearly gross pay.
