We are looking for a leader to enhance our Strategic and Military Space (SMS) Division team. The SMS Division at SDL supports the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community through technology advancements aimed at protecting our Nation through space and ground programs. Our sensors, satellites, software systems, and science and engineering play an essential role in some important missions you’ve heard of, and others that you haven’t. Join our team in our seventh decade of delivering mission success.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING TO HIRE

SDL is looking for leaders who are passionate about the space industry, motivated to support U.S. National Defense related missions and are excellent communicators. SDL’s Program managers represent SDL to our customers and ensure program success. They drive program execution by maintaining tight schedules, risk identification and mitigation, prioritization of key program deliverables as well as effectively manage program resources, schedule, and budget. A Senior Program Manager at SDL is a champion of people and technology, a trusted and informed customer partner, and a demonstrated leader.

Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years in program/project management in the space satellite/payload industry
  • Proven technical and business background in end-to-end space missions (spacecraft bus, payload, and ground operations)
  • Established credibility in the space industry and existing relationships with leaders in the DoD and intelligence communities
  • Demonstrated success completing a multi-year program/project lifecycle (proposing, executing, delivering, and closing) in the space domain.
  • Proven experience leading teams of 25+ people.
  • Active Top Secret Clearance (or equivalent) or higher
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, physics, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong background in systems engineering
  • Use of EVMS for program planning and execution
  • Program management certification (PMP, or similar)
At SDL, we take pride in and highly value our employees. SDL offers competitive salaries and fantastic benefits, including:

  • High-quality, low-cost health, dental, and life insurance
  • A 14.2% employer retirement contribution into a 401(a) account—no matching required!
  • Utah State University undergraduate tuition discounts of 50%, full reimbursement for graduate tuition, and free course audits for employees and dependents meeting eligibility requirements
  • A great, highly educated team that works together to solve some of the most fascinating problems on (and off) our planet
  • We are a growing company that maintains both a family feel and high retention rate with over 90% job satisfaction
