Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Hyrecar Exempt; Full-Time, Regular Remote (Pacific time zone hours) Who We Are: HyreCar is a dynamic carsharing marketplace that powers the gig economy. Through the HyreCar platform, drivers needing vehicles for rideshare and other gig work can connect with owners and fleet operators who have vehicles available for rent. Your Mission: As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer at Hyrecar, you will play a pivotal role in driving the development and enhancement of our carsharing marketplace. Your mission is to contribute to the entire ecosystem, encompassing the marketplace, drivers, owners, backoffice, on the frontend, and backend. This is a generalist position where you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and touch all aspects of the platform. This is a remote position, but the candidate must be available to work during Pacific time zone hours, with a couple of hours of overlap every day to work with our Paris office. What You’ll Do: Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to the following)
- Build New Features: Take features from initial exploration through conception, development, testing/QA, release, documentation, monitoring, and maintenance
- Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code, adhering to best practices
- Architectural Development: Contribute to shaping the team's vision by using continuous refactoring to build a more decoupled architecture and create user-friendly abstractions for other developers
- Code Reviews: Review your peers' code to share knowledge and ensure code updates meet our product and tech standards
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical insights for estimating and prioritizing the most valuable features
- Team Rituals: Participate in team rituals to refine processes, manage day-to-day requests, explore, and estimate upcoming work
Tech Stack:
- Backend: Node.JS, Typescript, GraphQL
- Infrastructure: AWS Lambda, Terraform, ECS, SQS, SNS, Datadog
- Database: Mongo, PostgreSQL
- Frontend: Typescript, React
Who You'll Work With:
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and cross-functional teams on a daily basis
- Work closely with Amit, the VP of Engineering at Hyrecar,and Michael, the Global VP of Engineering at Getaround, and other team members
- Engage with developers and technical teams across different regions, including Europe
What You'll Bring: Education & Experience (required)
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer and Architect
- Proficiency in technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React
- Strong back-end development skills with experience in languages like Node.js and Typescript.
- Expertise in database design and management with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, architecture principles, and best practices
- Self Driven with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
What You'll Bring: Skills & Abilities (required)
- Proven Experience: Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with strong back-end development skills in Node.js, TypeScript, and GraphQL, and proficiency in frontend technologies and frameworks like React
- Database Skills: Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
- Meticulous Engineering: You prioritize reliability in the backend services you create, maintaining a meticulous engineering approach
- System Design: Good understanding of system design, data structures, and overall architecture
- Communication: Strong communication skills in English, essential for collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical team members, including fully remote colleagues
- Detail-Oriented: Capable of challenging specifications and always ready to offer solutions. You balance technical and business needs effectively
- User Focused: You understand that the ultimate goal is to enhance user value through your contributions
- Team Player: You have an egoless programming mindset and can take constructive feedback on the code you produce
Additional Awesomeness: (preferred, but not required)
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools like Terraform, including CI/CD pipelines.

Work Environment:
- Typical work environment includes desktop computing work using typical desktop computing equipment (laptop, keyboard, mouse, monitors, desk, chair) in a home office environment and/or other remote workspace environment
Physical Demands:
- Available for occasional morning discussions with our European team members
- Ability to sit and use typical desktop computing workspace equipment for extended periods
- Manual dexterity to operate a desktop computing workstation
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing using virtual tools like email, Google Meet, and Slack
- Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds, if required
