The Director of Security Services will be responsible for leading health care security services and programs to safeguard the patients, visitors, students, staff and assets at a world-class, non-profit, academic medical center and affiliated health care system. We are seeking an experienced, committed but humble, solution-oriented candidate who is comfortable leading physical security programs and work streams in a highly complex environment. 

As a member of Mayo Clinic’s Security leadership team, the incumbent will collaborate with Mayo Clinic leaders and business partners to develop and manage innovative programs to address challenging security issues.  The incumbent ensures the protection of the organization’s visitors, workforce and physical assets through security risk management programs and services and will, along with other duties:

• Collaborate to develop short-term and long-term security strategies; work closely with all Security teams and other Mayo Clinic stakeholders to align security strategies with organizational goals and operational needs. 
• Oversee security programs to safeguard the organization’s assets, employees and operations; ensure programs are effective and optimized; collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure programs are performing to standards and expectations.
• Lead a cross-functional team in an agile and matrix reporting environment, focused on the following services: 
  • Workplace Violence
  • Recruitment & Hiring
  • Education & Training
  • 24/7 Operational Support
    • Security Intelligence
    • Travel Security
    • Threat Monitoring
    • Incident Response/Crisis Management
    • Communications
  • Document Management (Policies/Procedures)
• Develop and maintain a service-based culture among departmental staff, contractors and partners.
• Provide regular reports to senior leadership on security program performance and recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications

Master’s degree with eight years of progressively responsible security supervisory/management experience or Bachelor’s degree with ten years of progressively responsible security supervisory/management experience or Associates degree with 12 years of progressively responsible security supervisory experience or HS/GED with 14 years of progressively responsible security supervisory experience. 

Strong understanding of sound business and strategic planning practices. Knowledge and understanding of business processes within a healthcare institution. Demonstrates the ability to build an effective, cohesive and collaborative team. Effective in leading, developing, motivating, and coaching a diverse team of professionals.

Compensation Detail

$134,888 - $195,624/ year. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.

Typically, Monday - Friday normal business hours but may require off-hours/weekends to support operational needs. This position consists of both remote and onsite work on the Rochester, MN campus. This role will require some travel to other Mayo Clinic sites.
