Hourly Rate: Min: $25.72 Max: $39.64

Under the direct supervision of the coding supervisory, the Credentialed Coder is responsible for the assignment of all ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 Diagnostic and Procedural Codes for all Inpatient, Outpatient, Ambulatory Surgery and Observation and clinic encounters. The Credentialed Coder will abstract each coded record into the Electronic Health Records, and where applicable assign the appropriate MS-DRG and release the record for financial reimbursement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION:

RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC preferred.

B. EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one (1) year coding experience as a RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC preferred.

C. EQUIPMENT, TOOLS and WORK AIDS:

• Understanding of basic functions of a computer network
• Understanding of coding principals, rules and regulations
• Understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT-4/HCPCS Coding
• Meet productivity standards of 60 clinic encounters per day, or 7.5 hr.
• Understanding of resources available to ensure accurate coding
• Telephone, photocopier Fax and patient records

Ability to interact and provide service to the customer's age-specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well-being.

F. WORKING CONDITIONS:

Inside environment, protected from the weather. Occasionally, subjected to combative customer, variable noise levels and is also subject to rapid pace, multiple stimuli and unpredictable environment.

G. PHYSICAL DEMANDS and TRAITS:

Must be able to

1) perceive the nature of sounds by the ear;

2) express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word;

3) perceive the written text through the eyes;

4) extend arms and hands in any direction, at times above the head to heights up to 6 feet, may use aids in reaching this height;

5) seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands;

6) pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers;

7) stoop, kneel or crouch;

8) sit for extended periods of time;

9) lift, carry, push or pull objects that weigh up to 25 pounds.

H. OTHER:

Self-motivated, dependable, neatly groomed, personable and well organized.

I. OTHER:

Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Must have the ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
