Contractors and consultants interested in providing services to the Working for America Institute (WAI) should submit a SOQ package addressed to Christie Bieber via email to cbieber@aflciotechinstitute.org.

The AFL-CIO Working for America Institute (WAI), a 501c3 non-profit organization affiliated with the AFL-CIO labor federation is seeking a contractor or consultant to assist with fundraising and development on an ongoing basis and ad hoc for specific projects or proposals. WAI anticipates offering an initial 3-month contract with an option to renew. The work will entail the following activities:

• Identification and development of prospective funders for private foundations. Periodic assistance with state and federal public funding opportunities may also be requested. This shall include background research, meeting preparation, drafting concept papers and talking points, development of other documents to be shared with funds. On a case-by-case basis, this may include direct contact with funders and participation in meetings.
• Writing proposals and responding to funder questions regarding proposals
• Organizing 1 to 2 funder briefings

Experience fundraising for workforce development organizations and programs strongly preferred. Experience with labor-oriented and worker-centered programs strongly preferred.

Selection Criteria

Submissions will be rated based on the qualifications submitted and based on the needs of the organization. Contractors and consultants rated qualified will be notified in a timely manner and added to an internal list for current and future work.

Submission Requirements

Submissions will be accepted continuously and reviewed as business needs dictate.

Interested candidates should submit a SOQ package by email to cbieber@aflciotechinstitute.org. The purpose of these documents is to demonstrate the consultant/contractors qualifications, competence and capacity to undertake services in conformity with the requirements of this solicitation. As such, the substance of the response will carry more weight than the form or manner of presentation. The documents should demonstrate the qualifications of the vendor and of the particular staff to be assigned to this engagement.

A complete package will include:

• A brief statement of qualifications based on the areas of interest (no more than 1,500 words).
• A list of funders which the consultant has successfully raised funding and the dollar amounts
• A resume for key individual(s) to provide the services
• At least three references of stakeholders familiar with the consultant/contractors work
• Rates for monthly, daily, or hourly work
