Job Description We are looking to hire a bilingual (Spanish) speaking Research Assistant (RA) to work on a randomized clinical trial funded by the National Institute of Health training community health workers to deliver behavioral treatment to reduce harms related to heavy drinking and drug use in the community. Candidates must have strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and capable of working with a culturally diverse population. The RA will be responsible for study implementation activities including but not limited to: advertising, screening and recruiting eligible participants, scheduling and coordinating participant meetings and participant payment procedures, maintaining timely communications with participants to maintain treatment engagement, administering all study related assessments, and assisting with data collection, scoring, and entry. Minimum requirements: Bilingual Spanish (Native speakers strongly encouraged). BA or BS in psychology or related field preferred with 1-3 years of experience. Previous research experience through academic training or previous work experience preferred. High interpersonal communication, and organizational skills, as well as ability to work on the team. Professional attitude and attention to important detail required. The RA must be highly motivated, and capable with working with a culturally diverse population. The RA for this position must have strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of computer applications, including word processing, Endnote, and Excel preferred. Knowledge of experimental research methodology and clinical research procedures preferred. Must be able to work some evenings/weekends when necessary. Travel to study sites required.
Required Skills Education
Required:
- BA or BS in psychology or related field with 1-year experience (Masters degree preferred). Experience
- Research experience through academic training or work experience Preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required.
- Ability to work independently is required.
- Flexibility in work schedule is required, including some possible evening hours.
- Knowledge of the American Psychological Association Publication Manual and ethical code preferred.
- The RA must provide his or her own transportation to research sites.
