Under the direction of the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s (Authority) Communications and Administration Manager, the Information Officer I serves as a conduit between the Regional Office and Authority headquarters and is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive public relations campaigns to promote the high-speed rail project. Responsibilities include the development of marketing and public relations campaigns that are relevant to Northern California audiences, including stakeholder partners, government officials, the media, and the general public.
The Information Officer I also supports the Northern California outreach team, executing official Authority events in the region, managing, and drafting Authority correspondence, and other duties as required.

Telework may be available for this position for California residents based on the requirements of the position, with a minimum of two in-person working days per week, and may be discussed during the interview process. While working on-site, the incumbent works in a professional office environment, in a climate-controlled area which may fluctuate in temperature and is under artificial light. The incumbent will be required to use a computer, mouse, and keyboard, and will be required to sit for long periods of time at a computer screen. The incumbent must be able to focus for long periods of time, multi-task, adapt to changes in priorities, and complete tasks or projects with short notice. The incumbent must develop and maintain cooperative working relationships and display professionalism and respect for others in all contact opportunities.A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required for this position. An SOQ is a narrative that describes your qualifications for this position. The SOQ must be no more than two (2) pages, in 12-point font, organized and numbered as reflected below. 1. Please describe a successful media pitch you developed. How did you identify the story angle and pitch it effectively? How did you measure your success? How many years of experience do you have with this type of outreach?
2. Please describe a time you integrated social media into your communication strategy and give an example of a social media campaign you developed. What was the objective and how did you measure its success?
3. Please share your experience with writing collateral on multiple channels, including but not limited to, press releases, social media content, and newsletters. What software and applications do you utilize to perform the scope of your work? How do you ensure transparency, accuracy, clarity, consistency in your writing?
