Job Description The Database Manager and Prospect Research supports Advancement and Development activities in executing the Meadville Lombard Theological School (MLTS) advancement and engagement strategy through timely gift processing and recognition, regular communication, support for donors and institution stakeholders, management of the donor database, information reporting, and other administrative support of departmental goals in collaboration with the business office. This team member must be organized and pragmatic in supporting advancement efforts. This person provides administrative services to the donor relations specialist, the president, and the business office in supporting donations and advancement work for major gifts, planned giving, and other areas of the institution’s advancement work. Responsibilities Ensuring ethical and appropriate financial administration of all contributed income, including overseeing the donor, alums, prospect records, gift processing, and donor stewardship functions. This includes interfacing with the business office. Provide timely and accurate gift data to the Leadership and Advancement teams to facilitate planning, prospect donor outreach, progress, and trends reporting. Maintains clean data and implements and documents processes for accurate and consistent reporting. Managing the processing, recording, and reporting gifts and information for various development goals (i.e., annual fund, campaign, special initiatives, stakeholder engagement, etc.). Information is entered into the donor and accounting databases, and periodic reconciliations are performed. Research prospect opportunities and develop reports on individual donors. Support marketing, development, and advancement efforts in strategy and implementation to secure individual, corporate, foundation, and government partnerships. Assisting in maintaining consistent and accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports of fundraising progress, communicating the progress and trends of the overall advancement efforts. Manage registration for donor-related events, including managing the database of event-related information and other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for Meadville Lombard Theological School's mission, values, and social justice focus and be competent in functioning in a multiracial, multicultural, and theologically diverse learning and work environment. They are a well-organized self-starter with solid and effective time management and organizational skills. This position requires someone who will exercise high discretion and can collaborate with diverse groups of individuals and situations with remarkable tact and good judgment. The ability to function as a team player in a fast-paced culture, dependability, a sense of humor, and enthusiasm are essential. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with liberal traditions, but a congregational membership is not required. A bachelor's degree is required. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, non-profit management, or a related field. Proven track record of database management and identifying new donor prospects. Understanding of fundraising and knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the school to donors and external agencies. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising databases. Knowledge of Virtuous and QuickBooks Pro is desirable. Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research. Strong commitment to promoting the school's mission and vision. Demonstrated professional and personal commitment to equity. Knowledge of social media, familiarity with other emerging communication innovations, and a willingness to learn new applications. A successful project and budget management track record, including experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills with a successful record of building consensus and exhibiting a collaborative work style. This position may require some weekend and evening work. A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a related position, preferably in a higher education environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with Unitarian Universalist theology, culture, and practices. However, the position is not limited to Unitarian Universalists and is open to anyone.
