Overview Chief Global Compliance Officer The Chief Global Compliance Officer (CGCO) is responsible to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel for developing, executing, and enforcing the Global Ethics and Compliance Program in order to ensure compliance with evolving laws and regulatory requirements in addition to University policies and procedures. The CGCO should proactively enhance standards and procedures to the program to detect, prevent, and correct non-compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. The CGCO will lead the implementation of a comprehensive compliance program for the University through meaningful engagement of key stakeholders and collaboration with various constituencies of the NYU community. The CGCO will operate with managerial courage and authentic, calm confidence, being open and direct even in difficult conversations, addressing any challenges tactfully and head-on, and engendering trust both throughout the NYU community as well as externally. The CGCO will represent NYU as a public face of the organization, engaging with key stakeholders and communicating NYU's vision and strategy while building relationships, championing NYU's interests externally and representing NYU's image and reputation. The CGCO will effectively lead by example and through influence, inspiring others while fostering accountability and driving towards organizational and programmatic goals. The CGCO will be highly collaborative, compassionate, and sought out for their perspective. The Office of Ethics and Compliance is responsible for instilling a culture of compliance with regulations and ethical standards and developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure excellence in the University's efforts to comply with its institutional, regulatory and legal obligations. This office will ensure both general and specific training and education regarding applicable laws, regulations, and policies; communication of clear business ethics guidelines to all employees, faculty, consultants, and independent contractors; monitoring and oversight of the University's efforts to maintain the highest standards of excellence in fulfilling its institutional and regulatory obligations. Travel to other NYU campuses and sites is required. Responsibilities Lead the development, execution, and enforcement of the Global Ethics and Compliance Program to ensure compliance with evolving laws, regulations, and university policies. Proactively enhance standards and procedures to detect, prevent, and correct non-compliance. Implement a comprehensive compliance program through meaningful engagement of key stakeholders and collaboration across the NYU community. Represent NYU publicly, engage with stakeholders, communicate NYU's vision and strategy, and advocate for NYU's interests externally. Lead by example, foster accountability, and drive toward organizational and programmatic goals. Collaborate with the Office of Ethics and Compliance to train and educate on applicable laws and policies and monitor compliance efforts. Travel to NYU campuses and sites as required. Qualifications Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree plus 15 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree in a related area plus 10 years of relevant experience. Preferred Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or LL.M. from an American Bar Association accredited law school is strongly preferred. Required Experience: With a Bachelor’s Degree, 15+ years as a senior executive with significant experience in financial, legal, compliance, regulatory and/or audit matters; experience conducting effective investigations and evolving investigation protocols. With a Master’s Degree, 10+ years as a senior executive with similar experience. Experience in multiple areas and in an organization of comparable scale and complexity is preferred. Preferred Experience: 15+ years of professional experience within an academic institution, large company, or government agency. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Significant executive leadership, ability to lead and work in a team, strong interpersonal skills, ability to read and interpret complex regulatory or legal documents, and ability to communicate technical concepts; experience with stakeholder engagement and building internal and external relationships; ability to navigate regulators and policymakers; data collection, data privacy and security awareness; excellent judgment and decision-making; strategic, pragmatic, and collaborative mindset; strong project management and communication skills; global mindset and ability to influence across levels. Additional Information In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $330,000.00 to USD $400,000.00. New York University considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, internal equity, market considerations when offering compensation.
