Pharmacy Technician I

Full-time, Night Shift, 3 nights on, 1 off, 3 nights on, 7 days off. Hours are 7:00 PM - 7:30 PM. rotating weekends and holidays.

Purpose:
Responsible for the proper storage and distribution of drugs; receives and accounts for drugs coming from all vendors. Delivers drugs to patient care and other areas; picks up drug returns and applicable paperwork; and puts all returned unit-dose products back to proper receipts. Responsible for filling patient drug boxes, floor stock orders, and automated dispensing cabinets. Assists Pharmacists as directed. Maintains daily reports.

  • Accurately fills floor stock requests.
  • \n
  • Prepare correct labeling for bulk drugs.
  • \n
  • Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.
  • \n
  • Basic understanding of the concept of physical stability and chemical stability as it relates to parenteral pharmaceuticals.
  • \n
  • Correctly interpret physician orders and can distinguish between pharmaceutical orders, laboratory tests, radiology, nursing, and other orders.
  • \n
  • Perform monthly medication storage area inspections.
  • \n
  • Selects drugs from stock in the proper dose, dosage form, and quantity as ordered by a physician under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • \n
  • Understands microbial contamination and exhibits Aseptic Technique while preparing sterile pharmaceutical products.
  • \n
  • Repackages drugs into a unit-of-use container.
  • \n

  • Education and Formal Training Required: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • \n
  • Experience Required: Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
  • \n
  • Must be familiar with typewriter keyboard and demonstrate the ability to produce a neat, accurate, and legible copy.
  • \n
  • Individuals must be able to adapt to the computerized Pharmacy Information Systems utilized. 
  • \n
  • Individuals must demonstrate initiative and good judgment.
