Role Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for all associates while maintaining compliance with company policies and applicable laws. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

  • Process multi-state bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for associates, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes, and direct deposit information.
  • Verify timesheets and attendance records for accuracy and address discrepancies.
  • Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and commissions as applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Respond to questions from associates and managers regarding paychecks, direct deposit, W-2s, and/or general payroll questions
  • Review and distribute W-2s, 1099s, and other tax-related documents.
  • Run and prepare reports on a regular basis for Payroll and other departments.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on employee onboarding, terminations, and benefit deductions.
  • Stay current on changes in payroll laws, tax regulations, and best practices.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned, including projects involving HR and Finance, Benefits systems and payroll audits.

Essential Job Skills:

  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Insperity, UKG) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, index matching, sumifs, lookups).
  • Strong sense of business ethics, integrity, confidentiality and accountability
  • Must be team-oriented, flexible and support the company’s values
