Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking an On- Call Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Compliance Consultant to support various clients within our Commercial and Manufacturing team. This position will be based out of any of our Southern California locations and will report to the Resource Group Lead (RGL) for the West and Mountain Regions.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Work with an interdisciplinary environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance team to provide audit services across the U.S., to evaluate diverse facility types for conformance to federal, state, and local regulatory standards.
- Act independently and as part of an audit team to develop EHS findings, recommendations, and corrective actions to mitigate hazards and assure compliance and/or a return to compliance.
- Provide health and safety consulting services in support of program and project delivery for a variety of clients, including the implementation and closure of post-audit corrective action plans.
- Assist in the development of written EHS plans, risk management strategies, safe work practices and related training materials on behalf of clients.
- Visit client sites and provide safety support such as conducting tailgate health and safety meetings, performing compliance assessments, completing planned job or behavioral based safety observations, supporting safety culture, and assisting in hazard identification and control.
- Promote EHS compliance with clients, with a goal of continuous improvement of their EHS culture.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Current OSHA 30-Hour training (General Industry).
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and experience applying them in industrial/commercial facilities.
- CHMM, CIH, CPEA, CSP, or other relevant professional license or certification preferred.
- Ability to travel. This role is primarily field based with 25% to 50% of the time spent visiting client facilities.
- Knowledge and experience applying regulatory and safety requirements.
- ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification preferred. Experience with environmental management systems a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software.
- Proven track record in successful project execution and client satisfaction.
- Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.
Education and Experience
- A degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field is preferred.
- 5 years of relevant field work experience in a health, safety, or construction role is preferred.
Office environment with prolonged sitting and computer work, or combination of office and field. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Travel is required, and field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
