Assists with a wide range of direct patient care tasks within the assigned area. Job Duties Performs routine nail care. Assists physician with diabetic foot exams. Rooms patients, removes dressings, cleans wounds, applies dressings and compression wraps. Identifies, observes, and documents the physical needs of the patient. Reports changes in patient condition. Assists patients in transferring and positioning to facilitate appropriate care. Obtains and maintains the integrity of specimens. Provides for or assists patients with activities of daily living as it pertains to care of patients in the Podiatry Clinic. Performs pre-visit data gathering and record keeping on new and return patients. Executes and documents ongoing patient communication. Provides instruction to ensure patient's understanding of medical condition and compliance with treatment Instructions. Assists with transporting sterile and non-sterile instruments to and from sterile processing. Assists in problem solving and troubleshooting in the care and maintenance of equipment and assists in ensuring adequate supplies are available in the Podiatry Clinic. Completes necessary charges for appliances and dressings to the patient. Orders necessary materials from storeroom and purchasing. Assures smooth operation of the Podiatry Clinic. Participates in quality improvement activities. Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
