TRENTON SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Social Studies Teacher Trenton Rosenwald Middle School Term of Employment: Two hundred (200) days contract Immediate Supervisor: Building Level Principal Qualifications: Tennessee Licensure Social Studies Grades 5-8 Evaluation: Conducted by the building level administrators and Central Office supervisory staff. Skills: - Be a mature individual

- Have the ability to understand and follow instructions precisely
- Have the ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality
- Have the ability to deal with students
- Have the ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without the loss of efficiency or composure.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:
- Planning and implementing the daily program using current state standards
- Planning and preparing the learning environment, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
- Supervise the classroom
- Maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the District at all times
- Treat all students with dignity and respect
- Supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of students. Maintain a neat and organized classroom.
- Supervise activities to ensure safety at all times.
Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to:
- In case of an emergency, must be able to lift or assist in lifting a student in need
- Work outdoors in any variety of weather
- Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping
- Have mobility required to ensure the safety of students
- Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow consistent supervision of students
- Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities
