Job Description

A Hug Away Hospice is seeking a compassionate and experienced Medical Director to join our team on a part-time basis. The ideal candidate will have resources and will have developed meaningful relationships in the medical community to ensure visibility as we work together to provide comfort care to both children and adults. This candidate will also be able to provide medical oversight and guidance to our hospice program; thereby, ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients. This role requires availability for Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings every two weeks (remote) and the ability to practice medicine for all ages. We are seeking a person we can develop a working relationship that will last for many years.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical oversight and direction for the hospice program, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and clinical standards.
  • Participate in IDT meetings every two weeks to review patient care plans and collaborate with the hospice team (remotely).
  • Offer guidance and support to hospice staff, including nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Conduct patient assessments and provide medical consultations as needed.
  • Advocate for and support the development of a children’s hospice program within the organization.
  • Ensure the delivery of compassionate, patient-centered care that aligns with the mission and values of A Hug Away Hospice.


Qualifications:

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) with a current and unrestricted license to practice in Houston, TX or surrounding areas. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families.
  • Open to the idea of developing and supporting a children’s hospice program.
