Job Description

The Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicle and forklift issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring vehicles and forklifts are in optimal working condition. The Mechanic works out of the Shepley Garage, and collaborates closely with the other Mechanic, the Operations team and Drivers.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to

• Perform routine and operational maintenance of vehicles and forklifts to ensure that equipment continues to run as intended.
• Diagnose and repair equipment.
• Identify cost-efficient solutions.
• Demonstrate a good working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, engine, brake systems and tire/wheel changes.
• Complete safety inspections to identify potential problems and safety concerns.
• Clean equipment as required.
• Interpret manufacturer's technical manuals.
• Ensure work area and methods used in carrying out job duties meet safety requirements.
• Create and maintain service documents and logs as required in appropriate systems and databases.
• Stay familiar with and learn new technical information and techniques.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Excellent mechanical repair skills.
• Ability to read manuals and follow instructions.
• Strong communication skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
• Comfort with using and learning technologies.
• Industry experience helpful but not required.
