Marina General Manager – Kemah, Texas

 

The Kemah Boardwalk Marina is in search of a Marina General Manager to manage the daily operations and execute the long-term goals for the premier destination marina on the Texas Gulf Coast. The Marina General Manager will support the financial performance of the property through operational excellence, increasing slip revenue and controlling expenses. A successful Marina General Manager will be meticulous, possess strong leadership skills, and have a passion for the business.

Responsibilities:

The Marina General Manager is responsible for ensuring the marina operates efficiently, provides exceptional Guest Services, and maintains a safe and well-maintained environment for all Guests and Staff.

 

Operational Management:

  • Manage and oversee all marina operations, including slip rentals, Guest Services, and marina maintenance & cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and implement protocols to maintain a safe environment for Staff and Guests.
  • Supervise the scheduling of Marina Staff, including Marina Assistants, Maintenance, and Administrative Staff.
  • Inspect docks, facilities, and property to generate daily projects and tasks to maintain the property to our expected standards.
  • Coordinate the execution of all marina maintenance projects with the Marina Maintenance and third-party contractors.
  • Prioritize the safety of all Marina Guests, Marina Staff, visitors, and contractors while on the property.
  • Provide support for all Marina Guests Events.

 

Financial Management:

  • Work with corporate and Kemah Boardwalk management to effectively manage annual budgets, including revenue projections and expense control.
  • Monitor financial performance against budget and adjust strategies to achieve financial targets.
  • Work closely with the Marina Billing Coordinator & Assistant Marina Manager to ensure the proper billing and collection of all slip fees and coding and submission of all A/P invoices to accounting.

 

Guest Services:

  • Develop and maintain a culture of superior Marina Hospitality & Guest Services.
  • Assists Guests in making slip reservations, assigning boat slips, and developing and maintaining relationships with our Marina Guests, vendors, and contractors.
  • Address Guest inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.

 

Team Management:

  • Recruit, interview, train, and supervise all marina staff.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide constant coaching and development of staff to maximize their productivity.
  • Encourage a professional, positive work environment that strengthens productivity, teamwork, and accountability.

 

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations governing marina operations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
  • Remain informed of Marina industry standards, changes, new services, and regulations and implement into the Marina Operations when necessary and beneficial.

 

Business Development:

  • Develop initiatives to attract new marina Guests and retain existing ones.
  • Explore any opportunities for Marina revenue growth.
  • Administer the Marina’s social media to actively promote the marina, communicate with our Marina Guests, and to generate new slip leads.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum (3 years) experience in marina management with a focus on hospitality, leadership, and marina operations. Prefer mid to large size marina management experience.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial performance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of marine safety regulations and environmental standards.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of employees.
  • MUST have the ability to work weekends and major holidays.
