Job Title: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Summary: As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and development of cutting-edge aerospace machinery for our OEM applications. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the rigorous demands of the aerospace industry.
Education: - Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
- Course specialization in design and product development and/or Machine Mechanics and Welding Technology, course examples may include:
- Experimental Strength of Materials, Applications of Machine Elements, Mechanics of Machine Design/ Design of Machine Components, Applied Mechanism Kinematics and Dynamics, Advanced Machine Design
- Welding Processes, Advanced Materials in Manufacturing, Joining Processes
Desired Experience & Qualifications: - Exposure to one or more of the following professional environments: machine design, automation design, overhead conveyor systems, and steel work
- Deep understanding of Machine Mechanics Design, Product Development Design, and Structure Analysis – Fine Element Analysis from academic coursework background and/or professional experience.
- Demonstrates understanding of operator ergonomics and designing for manufacturing.
- Experience designing weldments and machining prints; understanding of liner guide, ball screw, rack design.
- Mechanical design experience using SolidWorks (Catia V5) to develop designs.
- An open-minded and flexible attitude, showing willingness to learn and ability to work in a team.
- Goal-oriented work approach and ability to cope with pressure.
Job Responsibilities: - Developing products within a team of design & sales engineers which may include designing in Catia, BOMs, and field support work.
- Utilize specifications to create design concepts, and contribute to the development of machine designs, structural equipment, and organizational designs.
- Organize design and development of customer projects including budgets, timelines, and acting as the primary point of contact in open projects for the customer and Project Manager
- Support sales efforts by working directly with sales engineers and/or sales manager to create design concepts based on customer specifications, utilizing existing products as a reference where possible and solutions to help expand our current offerings.
- Become technically proficient in current and future product offerings (i.e., automated drilling and fastening equipment, composites manufacturing, etc.)
- Utilize advanced tools (CAD tools – SolidWorks, CATIA)
