Instructional Technologist 3, $92,300- $151,000 Provides institutional instructional technology support services for training and education at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Works with customers, stakeholders and sponsors to develop, install, utilize and maintain the systems, equipment, programs and facilities required to provide training through electronically supported training media such as television, video, computer/Web-based training, teleconferencing and all other distance learning methods appropriate to Laboratory's needs. Job duties are dependent on the specific position but can include one or more of the following:
- Develops, implements and maintains training data management systems; examples include, but are not limited to, the virtual training center, employee development system, training questionnaire, worker qualification and authorization system and training validation system.
- Develops, tracks, trends and reports training metrics.
- Develops and manages training plans.
- Procures and manages vendor-supplied training programs.
- Provides consultation and help-desk services.
- Provides mentorship to instructional technologists, training coordinators and support staff.
- Adheres to policies and programs concerning the institutional training program and other applicable policies and programs.
- Researches, assembles, and/or evaluates information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes affecting training program policies or programs; recommends sound, practical solutions to complex issues.
- Fosters a mutually respectful and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment.
- Safety and security are a primary responsibility for all Laboratory employees. Assures safety and security compliance, maintains required safety and security training, and makes safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Instructional Technologist 4, $112,000-$186,700 In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level will Work on unique and complex issues at the institutional level. Provides solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations and data requires an evaluation of multiple variables with potentially significant and broad-ranging consequences. Works independently toward predetermined long-range targets. Uses independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives.
What You Need The ideal candidate will have advanced organizational and collaborative skills, a strong understanding of Learning Management Systems, and adept communication skills.
Minimum Job Requirements: - Possesses systems-level knowledge of learning management systems, the Laboratory's training data management systems and related information data systems (e.g., Data Warehouse).
- Demonstrates understanding of automated learning technologies.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the use of common computer-based applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
- Demonstrates project planning, organization, scheduling and management.
- Uses analytical and problem-solving techniques and processes.
- Maintains training metrics including data gathering, collation, analysis, trending, tracking and reporting.
- Demonstrates excellence in written and verbal communication.
- Supports software applications and systems by investigating, designing, documenting and implementing software solutions. Has broad expertise or unique knowledge. Uses skills to contribute to the development of solutions that achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Develops and/or implements advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.
- Knowledge of Web-based technologies including Web page development and maintenance and Web-based tools and utilities.
- Knowledge of hardware and software integration and testing.
- Expert knowledge and experience with modern software development methodologies, tools and processes, including agile frameworks, tools and techniques
- Proficient knowledge and experience with programming languages, database design, security strategies and component integration
- Proficient knowledge and experience with automation and strategies for achieving DevSecOps
- Proficient knowledge of hardware and software integration
In addition to those above, Minimum Job Requirements: Instructional Technologist 4 - Demonstrates consulting and coaching techniques and processes.

Education/Experience Instructional Technologist 3: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Master's degree preferred
Education/Experience Instructional Technologist 4: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Master's degree preferred.
Work Environment: Work Location The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
