Job Description

The HR Generalist is a key contributor to the Human Resources team, responsible for supporting and enhancing a broad range of HR functions. This role reports to the Sr. Director, Talent Management and Organizational Effectiveness, and will support change management in a fast-growing organization with a focus on effective communication and stakeholder satisfaction. The Generalist serves as a trusted advisor to managers, providing guidance on addressing employee performance challenges and implementing effective strategies to foster a positive, productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Management

  • Provide proactive Generalist support to assigned client groups in partnership with the Sr. Director, Talent Management and Organizational Effectiveness (“Sr. Director”). Develop and maintain influential relationships with managers to drive talent outcomes that support business objectives.
  • Offer practical guidance to managers on performance management, including performance evaluation, feedback mechanisms, and performance coaching.
  • Evaluate management requests for corrective actions to ensure alignment with company policies and legal requirements and documenting actions accordingly.
  • Support the administration of the annual performance management cycle.

Policy & Project Work

  • Serve as a resource and advise on general policy application and process/practice implementation.
  • Assist the Sr. Director with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legal requirements and organizational goals.
  • Lead or support special projects aimed at improving HR processes, such as system implementations, employee engagement initiatives, or process audits.
  • Research and analyze HR trends and best practices to inform policy changes and project recommendations.
  • Prepare project documentation, reports, and presentations for senior management to support decision-making and strategic planning.

Employee Relations

  • Effectively address employee relations issues, working closely with managers to resolve conflicts and improve workplace dynamics—escalating complex issues to the Sr. Director for resolution.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers on addressing employee performance concerns, including coaching on effective communication and disciplinary actions.
  • Assist the Sr. Director with conducting workplace investigations and ensuring proper documentation of findings.

Talent Acquisition and HR Support

  • Assist with the recruiting process, including creating job postings, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting phone screens, and providing information to applicants.
  • Evaluate employment applications to match candidates with job requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local colleges, universities, and attend job fairs to support talent acquisition efforts.
  • Support the facilitation of pre-adverse and adverse action processes.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities and provide ongoing support to new hires.
  • Offer responsive assistance to current, former, and prospective employees.
  • Contribute to employee engagement efforts, including monthly HR updates, training sessions, and recognition programs.
