The Arena Group is looking for a strategic, results-driven media executive to lead its Sports & Leisure division. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about sports and the active lifestyle space, with a strong track record in digital media, content strategy, and business growth. As General Manager, you’ll drive strategy, innovation, and performance across a portfolio of iconic brands including Athlon Sports, TheSpun, Men’s Journal, Men’s Fitness, and The Adventure Network (Powder, Surfer, Bike, Snowboarder, Skateboarding). You’ll oversee business operations, editorial and content teams, and collaborate cross-functionally to grow audience, revenue, and brand impact. We’re seeking a visionary leader with experience managing high-performing teams, building partnerships, and scaling media brands.
The Arena Group’s expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $180,000-$250,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group’s total compensation and benefits available to its employees.

What You’ll Do
Define and implement business strategies that ensure revenue and cost targets are met.
Partner cross-functionally across revenue, product, HR, and finance.
Oversee daily editorial operations, ensuring alignment with brand and audience goals.
Expand brand reach through diverse content formats, including print, podcasts, and social media.
Maintain content quality, consistency, and timeliness.
Develop strategic partnerships to grow the brand impact and revenue.
Align with product, tech, marketing, and revenue teams on growth initiatives.
Recruit, onboard and manage external publishers and freelancers.
Establish and enforce content and production quality standards.
Build a cost-effective, scalable external content network.
Oversee P&L management with a strong focus on profitability and cost efficiency.
Optimize costs while driving audience and revenue growth.
Track financial & operational KPIs to drive data-informed decision-making.
Identify new revenue opportunities leveraging Arena’s IP.
