Fleet Manager at Amentum in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of fleet vehicles. Fleet manager also serves as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations . Position location: remote-telework. US citizenship is required to apply. Principal Accountabilities + Oversee a diverse fleet of vehicles, including maintenance, scheduling, and performance management. + Management oversight of any 3rd party fleet management provider + Develop and execute fleet management strategies to maximize operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination of vehicle acquisition, maintenance, and disposal. + Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to minimize vehicle downtime and reduce maintenance costs. + Provide training and guidance for drivers as required. + Identifying opportunities for cost reduction in coordination with our third-party fleet management provider. + Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards in the fleet management industry. + Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions, improve routing, and enhance overall fleet performance. + Evaluate and promote opportunities where implementation of telematics, to our program fleets, for tracking systems to optimize real-time monitoring and reporting Knowledge & Skills + Comprehensive understanding of logistics, supply chain, and vehicle maintenance practices. + Proficiency in utilizing fleet management software and telematics systems. + Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures, from vehicle assignment to replacement cycling, from personal use to accident reporting. + Exceptional problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners. + Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and compliance. + Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills + Proficient in Microsoft Office software + Additional knowledge/skill requirements may vary by assignment. Experience & Education + Minimum eight (8) years of experience in government or civilian fleet management with at least two (2) years in a managerial role. Two (2) years of experience in a related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college. + Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or associated discipline. + Prefer a membership in or a certification from NAFA Fleet Management Association. Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) + Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance.
