The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical abilities, and the capability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Our organization is poised for substantial high growth in the coming years through a combination of organic and acquisitive growth initiatives. To support this ambitious trajectory, we are committed to assembling a high-performing team capable of implementing and managing institutional-level accounting operations and robust financial planning and analysis (FP&A) capabilities. This position represents an attractive long-term opportunity for an entrepreneurial and driven professional eager to contribute to the success of a high-growth, sponsor-backed company.

Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with UDC's mergers and acquisitions (M&A), human resources, and operations teams on strategic projects, leveraging your rigorous attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, proactive problem-solving abilities, and capacity to work independently while delivering timely and accurate results. This position is based in the greater New York area, with a combination of remote work and occasional in-person meetings with the accounting team, also located in the New York metropolitan region.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and review journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee and coordinate bi-weekly and ad hoc payrolls with the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) vendor, accurately preparing and documenting payroll records, and assisting in resolving payroll inquiries from vendors and employees.
  • Lead and assist in daily reconciliations across dental practices, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
  • Assist with monthly updates for fixed assets, ensuring accurate and timely recording of additions, disposals, and depreciation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses as required.
  • Conduct ad-hoc reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies or irregularities in financial data.
  • Cross-train with accounting department members to provide coverage for other tasks as needed.
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation of financial transactions and records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and alignment regarding financial processes and requirements.
  • Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Review and approve journal entries and reconciliations prepared by Junior Accountants.
  • Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage cash flow by monitoring bank balances, cash requirements, and resource planning.
  • Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives, ensuring alignment with the company's targets.
  • Establish and implement accounting policies and procedures that support the achievement of the company's goals.
Requirements
  • Proven supervision and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage processes, identify problems, and recommend effective solutions, with strong research capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a client-focused approach to both written and verbal communication.
  • Extensive experience in reconciliation and month-end closing processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Statement of Financial Accounting Standards.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Sage software is a plus.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or finance (required).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or actively pursuing certification.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven track record in financial reporting and monthly closing processes.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP accounting principles, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be located in Atlanta, Georgia or New York, New York.
Benefits
  • Hybrid Work from home and office
