A nationally recognized manufacturer in the building products industry is seeking a Fabricator / Maintenance Mechanic (CTH) to join its 2nd-shift maintenance team. About the Role

The Fabricator / Maintenance Mechanic will support plant operations by maintaining, repairing, fabricating, and troubleshooting equipment throughout the facility. Although this is a maintenance role, the hiring manager is open to individuals with strong fabrication/welding backgrounds who want to transition into maintenance and grow their skills.

This is a 2nd shift role (2pm–10pm, M–F) with rotating mandatory Saturday shifts and required holiday coverage (alternate schedule).

Note: This is a dusty, loud, temperature-extreme industrial environment—ideal for candidates who appreciate tough, hands-on work and a tight-knit crew.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, weld, and repair equipment or facility components
• Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Work on conveyors (belt & screw), air compressors, pumps, burners, blowers, and related equipment
• Perform facility/production repairs and preventive maintenance
• Diagnose breakdowns independently—especially during hours without onsite leadership
• Train on 1st shift for 1–3 months prior to moving to 2nd shift
• Collaborate with maintenance team, operators, and plant electricians

What We’re Looking For

Must-Haves

• 1–2+ years of fabrication/welding experience (MIG/TIG/STICK)
• Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Ability to work in dusty, loud, and non-temperature-controlled settings (hot summers, cold winters)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Self-starter who works well independently, especially off-shift

Preferred

• 2–5 years of plant maintenance experience
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
• Exposure to conveyors, blowers, burners, pumps, and industrial equipment
• Electrical troubleshooting (PLC basics, VFDs, motors)
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance or CMMS systems

Schedule & Compensation

• Shift: 2pm–10pm Monday–Friday
• OT: 5–30+ hours per week (mandatory rotating Saturdays; some holidays)
• Holiday Pay: 2.5×
• Pay: Up to $34/hr (CTH)
• Retention Bonus: $1,000 after 12 months

• Must pass background check and drug screen (marijuana not tested)
• Onsite interviews include a written/mechanical assessment and plant tour
• Steel toes required for onboarding
