Job Summary

This is a multi-level position with level placement dependent upon the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

The Ethics and Compliance team manages internal investigations and works with others throughout the Company to conduct thorough and timely inquiries while overseeing and continuously improving the investigation processes and data. This position is responsible for time-sensitive, complex investigations of irregularities, fraud, and/or other violations of the Standards of Conduct (including harassment and discrimination based on protected characteristics), company policies, or the law. Investigators are expected to: independently formulate investigation plans, conduct investigations (including witness interviews and examination of other evidence), draft timely and concise investigation reports for distribution to senior management and human resources, and provide necessary follow-up to ensure that appropriate disciplinary and corrective actions are initiated and completed. The position is also responsible for providing assistance, guidance and support for other compliance program initiatives, including training and corporate communications. Duties often require interaction with union members and business leaders and relationships must be developed and maintained to facilitate interactions and cooperation. Position must be knowledgeable of company policies; understand legal issues/restrictions associated with investigations; able to manage caseload, including prioritizing of significant matters; collect data; and review patterns and anomalies.

Basic Qualification (Ethics & Compliance Investigator):

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years of conducting internal corporate or similar investigations
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of conducting internal corporate investigations experience

Basic Qualification (Sr. Ethics & Compliance Investigator):

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 8 years of conducting internal corporate or similar investigations

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations, interview witnesses, gather evidence, draft timely and concise investigation reports and provide necessary follow-up to ensure that appropriate disciplinary and corrective actions are initiated and completed by the responsible parties
  • Support and conduct investigations triggered by reported concerns and complaints from internal and external parties
  • Interact with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, labor unions and business unit management in gathering and analyzing data
  • Assist management in implementing controls to prevent Standards of Conduct issues, training, auditing and security surveys
  • Testify in civil/criminal trials, mediations and arbitration hearings
  • Compose/present reports, including recommendations to prevent recurrence, for leadership review
  • Build relationships and credibility across the organization
  • Manage storage and maintenance of investigation case data according to the established framework.

Job Specific Qualifications

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 2 years of conducting internal corporate or similar investigations
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of conducting internal corporate investigations
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization as well as external parties
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in maintaining highly-confidential and sensitive information
  • Willingness to travel for business-related purposes
  • Experience evaluating information to determine compliance with company policies and procedures, laws and regulations.
