About the role Here at Forterra we are looking for candidates who are interested in staying on the cutting edge as we develop new products that drive the future generation of autonomous vehicles. There is a shift underway in the automotive industry to move from 12v low-voltage centrally distributed power systems to higher efficiency 48vdc distributed architectures and we are looking for an Electrical Engineer to act as Forterra's primary technical expert in developing these next generation power system designs.
What you'll do: - Designing high-reliability & high-efficiency power conditioning and distribution systems for both commercial and military autonomous vehicles.
- Designing to meet commercial and military vehicle operating conditions / requirements.
- Design of input protection circuits, linear and switching supplies and regulators, output protection circuits, ESD protection circuits, and EMI/EMC compliance circuits for power systems.
- Performing risk-reduction prototyping testing of circuits at the component, subsystem, and system levels.
- Performing (and documenting) the validation testing of designs through analysis, simulation, and/or hardware testing.
- Generating and implementing improvements of designs to reduce cost, increase yield, and improve throughput.
- Generating design documentation to ensure the delivery of a quality finished product.
- Participating in interdisciplinary design teams and design reviews.
- Providing production build support for the manufacturing of prototypes
through volume ramp-up to production.

What we Require: - B.S. or M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- 7+ years of power supplies and regulators design experience.
- Design and simulation of complex digital and analog circuits.
- Experience identifying and selecting safety-critical components.
- Design of point of load power supply circuits.
- Working knowledge in the selection of switching power supply components such as
FETs, Inductors, Capacitors. - Excellent problem-solving skills, hands-on abilities, and working knowledge of common
test equipment. - Familiarity with design, analysis and manufacturing standards associated with complex
multilayer rigid CCAs. - Ability to solve complex technical problems independently.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with systems, safety, and mechanical engineering
teammates.
What We Love to See: - Experience working with automotive PMICs.
- Experience with Altium Designer.
- Experience with automotive industry safety standard ISO 26262.
- Experience with MIL-STD-1275, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-
810, MIL-STD-882E. - Experience with board layout.
Telework Eligibility: On-site with partial remote work possible (requires

US Salary Range
$120,000-$160,000
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra's overall compensation package.
