Job Summary

Dog trainers conduct personalized one-on-one and small group training sessions with clients and their dogs. The dog trainer's responsibilities include evaluating dogs' dispositions and temperaments, teaching clients how to reinforce desired behavior, and providing regular progress updates to clients. Travel to clients’ homes and various local parks required.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs the following responsibilities in accordance with Dog Training Elite Emerald Coast policies and procedures, work rules, expectations and behavioral standards.

• Works with a variety of dog breeds, sizes and ages.
• Consults with clients to discuss behavioral concerns and training needs.
• Identifies additional behavioral concerns and communicates them to clients.
• Develops suitable training plans for the clients and their dogs and documents their progress.
• Trains dogs using various training techniques to establish desired behaviors.
• Teaches clients appropriate training methods to enforce and maintain desired behaviors.
• Exhibits polite and professional communication, whether in person or via phone and email.
• Provides essential details to potential clients regarding packages and pricing.
• Ensures that the training areas are clean and tidy.
• Wears required uniform to all training appointments.

Experience & Qualifications:

Must love dogs.

Must be patient and passionate about training dogs.

Exceptional customer service skills.

Effective communication skills.

Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.

Self-starter who works well both independently and collaboratively with a team.

Experience training animals is preferred.

Training in accordance with the Dog Training Elite standards will be provided to the right candidate. All newly hired trainers will be required to work as an apprentice for at least 2 weeks before training solo.

Education:
Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
